Avalanche Ridge

Avalanche Ridge is a very steep (No Mountain Bikes) popular hiking trail up the Warm Springs drainage of the Sun Valley Region. Over 2,000 feet of elevation gain to a 7,700-foot summit. Spectacular views of the Smoky, Pioneer, and Boulder Mountains are the reward. Steep dangerous skiing descends are also popular here. Avalanches are numerous and can be very large and extreme on occasion. In 1952 an avalanche from Avalanche Ridge once took out trees on Bald Mountain.
